Movers' Tips for Fast and Efficient Packing
Packing is one of the most difficult aspects of moving, therefore Arrow Moving and Storage want to make sure it goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. One way to do that is to use the right type of boxes to get the job done. Although most boxes may seem the same to you, there are significant differences that make moving boxes more beneficial than using just any type of cardboard box. Our professional staff of certified packers can make sure we provide you with all the correct sizes and types of moving boxes.
- Book boxes are approximately 16" x 12" x 12". They are small but sturdy enough for heavy items. Use this type of box when packing books, records, canned goods and CDs.
- The size of legal tote boxes is 24" x 16" x 13". They are often used when packing up an office space and hold files and folders.
- Medium size boxes that are 18" x 15" x12" are used for moderately heavy, non-fragile items. Pack pots and pans from your kitchen, toys and other games, linens and folded clothing.
- Large boxes are generally 18" x 18" x 24" and 23" x 23" x 20". They are meant to hold items that are bulky but not overly heavy. For example, pillows, lamp shades and bedding are suitable items to pack in large boxes.
- Wardrobe boxes are tall standing boxes that are equipped with a metal bar. They are meant for transporting clothes that cannot or should not be folded. To use this type of box, leave your clothes on their hangers and hang it from the metal bar. These are available in sizes to suit children and adult clothes.
- Mirror boxes and picture boxes are long narrow boxes that are used to transport paintings, large pictures and wall mirrors. These vary in size to suit a variety of different artwork or mirror sizes.
- Dish boxes, or dish packs are roughly 18" x 18" x 28" in size. They are made with extra thick walls so that they can safely carry fragile items such as plates and vases. Cell separators are also available for dish boxes to help hold glassware and help prevent breakage due to rubbing against one another as they are being transported from one location to another.
